Auf der weekly Suche nach High Quality Musik für das Katerprogramm sind wir auf ein Multitalent aus Grossbritannien gestossen: Hilts. Sein neustes und zugleich erstes Soloprojekt Swings and Roundabouts wurde am 30. August 2023 released. Was daran so speziell ist? Swings and Roundabouts ist eine high quality infusion diverser Genres. Rap, Drill, Crime, Soul und Gospel; alles ist dabei. Das Resultat? Ein lyrisches Rap-Meisterwerk, perfekt gemacht für deine After-Kater Selbstreflexion.
Aber wer ist Hilts?
Hilts ist ein britischer Rapper und Producer, welcher seine Karriere bereits 2014 als Part der Crime/Drill Crew The Square gestartet hatte. 2015 verliess er die Band allerdings, um sich auf sein Jazz Studium fokussieren zu können.
Und nun folgt sein erstes Solostudioalbum; Swings and Roundabouts - eine Infusion von Sounds, Genres und allen Erfahrungen, welche Hilts bisher sammeln durfte.
"I had this foundation of rap, but that was a bit too rough and crazy and club music. It wasn't sensitive enough for me. And then I went to study jazz and learnt how to record jazz, which is amazing, but I still have these roots. And I feel like I've finally landed a sound that is like my voice." - Hilts
Doch was bedeutet Swings and Roundabouts überhaupt?
"A case of swings and roundabouts’ is a saying that refers to gains and losses that offset each other - highs and lows that equal out to create balance. When we’re deep in an experience we feel like we’re down and out but often we are gaining elsewhere, we just need to change our perspective to see it." - Hilts
