We are being ignored or glorified by the west and particularly by white western leftists.
Our voices are being silenced or manufactured for political stances.
Our lives are put on plate by the capitalist oil lobby and the hypocrisy of international solidarity.
There is no fuel, no food, no freedom and you people living in the global north cannot imagine what that means in the daily life of people. My people, the Cuban people.
As you read this I am on the island. Probably without internet connection, without light in the home and on the streets, the fridge is just a closet and the car a relic. There is the sun, the drums, the sea breeze. There is my neighbors child screaming at school time in the morning, the dog on the other neighbor's roof barking at night and the humming-bird making its round in the midday sun. I love our island so much. But I get angry from all the ignorance that we have to deal with as a people, being dehumanized as an exotic vintage beach destination or for political interests.
On this day more than 100 years ago, on the 10 of April 1892, José Martí founded the Cuban Revolutionary Party. It was about the Cuban independence from the Spanish colonial rule which it gained as one of the last countries in the Americas. Only to shortly after be occupied by the US. The Revolution that triumphed 1959 was not able to free Cuba. The US have never removed their foot from our land (look at Guantanamo) and the government that took power aka Castro did not stay in line with what the people had fought for. In that sense, Cuban people have lived under dictatorship before and after the Revolution, just on different terms. There is no freedom of speech, of choice of thought. There is no real socialist equity and the government and military lives from the blood of the Cuban people just as the US tortures us. The Cuban government justifies everything with the Revolution but for the Cuban people, the Revolution never really happened. So they start to hate that word, because the only thing it brings is lies. The Cuban Revolutionary Party was not designed for this. It was designed for democracy, independence and freedom. As we haven't seen this to this day, we need another Revolution because Revolution is not a monolith. I want my Cuba free, free from white supremacy rule, free from the yankees and free from communist dictatorship!
